Day 1 Bucharest – Curtea de arges– Sibiu

    Set out in the morning towards from Bucharest to Transylvania region.

    Curtea de Arges Monastery, Curtea de Arges, Arges County, Southern Romania

    On your way will stop at Curtea de Arges Monastery where you will visit an enchanting old christian orthodox monastery. Our guide will get you through the history of this faith center for Romania.

    Transfagarasan Highway, Curtea de Arges, Arges County, Southern Romania

    If the weather allows it make your way towards Sibiu city through Transfagarasan Road. Reach the top of the most beautiful and scenic route of Romania. Please note that between the period of June-October Transfagarasan Road is open. If the Transfagarasan Road is closed the alternative route of Olt Valley River Road will be used.

Day 2 Sibiu – Alba Iulia – Maramures

    Enjoy a warm breakfast in the morning and then set out for Alba Iulia city. This small town is a well preservered citadel. Tour the inside of the Old Town section and discover the history of the ancient and medieval times.

    Reach in the afternoon the region of Maramures in Breb Village. Have a traditional Wooden House for the accommodation and you will enjoy traditional meals prepared by the locals.

Day 3 Maramures Excursion

    Barsana Monastery, Barsana, Maramures County, Northwest Romania, Transylvania

    After breakfast set out in the morning for your Maramures excursion. Your first stop will be at one of the most important monasteries of the area, Barsana monastery that offers an insight of the local culture with wood carventing skills. Head for the Wood Carventer, one of the few craftsmen of the area that will offer an idea of how wood carventing is done in Maramures.

    Reach Dragomiresti Museum to find out about more about Maramures culture from a local with a visit at traditional house with it’s traditional belongings. Next stop will be at the local whirpool to see how the locals where washing their clothes and rugs.

    End your day at the Merry Cemetery where your guide will read funny stories of people of Maramures, that have been buried in the cemetery. Built in 1947 this cemetery offers a different perspective on how after life should be approached, by taking it into a more funny way rather than sad way.

Day 4 Maramures – Tihuta pass – Voronet Monastery – Gura Humorului

    Enjoy your warm breakfast and then depart for Bucovina region. On your way will reach Tihuta Pass which offers a great view over Bucovina region. Reach in Gura Humorului and first see the Voronet Monastery. This is one of the most famous monasteries of the area as it was built by the famous ruler of Moldova region known as Stephan the Great. During his period he has manage to build over 300 monasteries most of them situated in the region of Bucovina.

Day 5 Gura humorului – Sucevita Monastery – Moldovita Monastery – Black pottery – Gura Humorului

    After this you head for the Black Pottery of Marginea to find out all about this old craft technique which is still being used nowadays. You will have the chance to see a real demonstration from one of the local craftsmen.

Day 6 Gura humorului – Bicaz Gorge – Red lake – Brasov

Day 7 Brasov – Bran – Peles – Bucharest

    In the morning you will head for Bran castle aka Dracula’s castle in order to discover this medieval castle. Tour the inside and at the end if you wish you can enjoy free time in the market in front.

    Reach the Peles Palace in Sinaia where you are going to visit the inside of one of the best palaces that Romania can offer. This 19th century palace was built by the first king of Romania. Reach Bucharest in the afternoon. End of service.

It was a great tour, Ovi was the best guide we have ever had! He has shown us some extra stops on the way and knew lots of interesting information about the country. He was a pleasure to be around. I can only recommend the tour - Romania is a beautiful country and even 7 days are not enough to see all its beauty
